ottie Laster is a Co-Executive Producer on an upcoming series for cable, the Executive Director of Million Kids.org and leads Laster Global Consulting, which trains organizations on the financial risks of human trafficking.She began work on human trafficking while earning her Master’s degree at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. She studied arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, France and mediation at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary.
She next worked for YMCA International where she was appointed an original member of the U. S. Attorney’s Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance, a human trafficking task force often noted as a model for the nation. As a part of this task force, Ms. Laster trained over 5,000 police officers and worked directly with adult and child victims.
Ms. Laster was selected by the US Attorney’s Office to be certified by the Department of Justice to train law enforcement and others on trafficking. She is the past Administrator of the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force in California and has successfully written for over $6.5 million in grants to combat trafficking and assist victims.
Ms. Laster has served as technical advisor and/ or producer on TV and movie projects for ABC, CBS, MSNBC, WYE Productions, Golden Era Productions and others. She has worked with celebrities including Ricky Martin, Anne Archer and Daryl Hannah to raise awareness on the issue and is the recipient of CYH Magazine’s Freedom Humanitarian Award.
